China to Nurture Companies for Global Competition – AP

The government said Tuesday that it planned to nurture as many as 50 state-owned enterprises to become globally competitive companies while maintaining control of companies engaged in key industries.

The government wants to continue its oversight over companies engaged in national defense, petrochemicals, power transmission, telecommunications, coal, civil aviation and shipping, said Li Rongrong, director of the State- Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, which acts as a warden of Chinese government assets.[Full Text]
