Japan, China Plan Military Port Exchange – AP

China and Japan’s relations hasn’t been affected by the Japanese government’s new statement on the War Shrine. Let’s put a question mark here if things will go smoothly. And so far it seems that two countries are working toward the strategic relationship as they acclaimed, here is AP report:

Japan and China are hoping to send warships to each other’s ports for courtesy calls soon to help ease tensions between the two Asian giants, an official said Monday.

The visit by Chinese warships to Japan would be unprecedented, according to a Defense Ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plan has not yet been finalized…

Exchanges between the navies would be particularly significant because of the two nations’ rival claims to waters around several disputed islands in the East China Sea. Plans by Tokyo and Beijing to develop natural resources in the disputed waters have added to tensions in recent years. [Full Text]
