Song: September 30th (Tibetan Pilgrims) – Chris Pumphrey

The story of the Sept 30th shootings on Mt. Everest is now a song:

High on the slopes of Mt. Everest

September 30th

Trekking Tibetan pilgrims walked

single file up a high mountain pass trail

On their way to see the Dalai Lama

“His Holiness” to them

A border guard in uniform takes a shooting position

On a hill not far away

Sniper rifle to his eye

You can see him taking aim

The crack of gunfire

Two innocent ones fall

the official report reported

It was a shooting in self defense

Those pilgrims attacked the guards it said

the guards fired to protect themselves

some pilgrims were taken as political prisoners

even little kids

mountain climbers had a base camp near by

they saw the whole thing in plain view

They were filming a climbing expedition

And their cameras were handy too

They were shocked at what they witnessed

And they got it all on video

I wonder how many people discover this

When you Google the words “Tibetan pilgrims”

You get a half a million hits

With details, and updates and interviews and photographs

And the mountain climber’s video

High on the slopes of Mt. Everest

September 30th

The rest of the pilgrims who made it through

Continued on the trail to Kathmandu

On their way to see the Dalai Lama

“His Holiness” to them
