China’s AIDS Orphan Story Wins Oscar – Chen Yiqin

A documentary on China’s AIDS orphans, “The Blood of Yingzhou District,” won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject at the Academy Awards yesterday.

Ruby Yang, the Hong Kong director of the documentary, thanked all the “heroes” fighting AIDS and all the people who support them when receiving the trophy, Sina.com reported today.

Yang made her speech in Chinese, the report said. Yang spent one and a half years in Yingzhou District in Fuyang City in eastern China’s Anhui Provice to shoot the 39-minute documentary. [Full Text]
