China Investigates Tainted Toothpaste – David Barboza

Chinese authorities are reportedly investigating claims that poisoned toothpaste shipped to Panama came from a Chinese factory. From the International Herald Tribune:

A team of government investigators arrived Sunday afternoon in Danyang, Jiangsu Province and closed the factory of the Danyang Success Household Chemical Company, a small building with about 30 workers in a town nearby, according to villagers and one factory worker.

The government also questioned the manager of another toothpaste maker, Goldcredit International Trading, which is based in Wuxi, about one hour southeast of Danyang. [Full text]
