On his blog, Richard Spencer writes about a new global opinion poll (PDF file) which shows that the world is not as concerned about the rise of China as some would lead us to believe:
…Even in America, which as number one world power probably has most to lose if the size of China’s economy overtakes its own, that eventuality would be regarded as negative by only a third of the population.
A majority of people would regard it as neither good nor bad, overall, while some – nine per cent – would even see it as a good thing.
In only three other countries (out of 13) did more people think it would be a bad thing than a good thing – France, Russia and India – while even there that number was less than the combined votes of those who thought it would be positive or neutral. [Full text]
