Architect Designs China Mixed-Use Communities with Eye on Green Design – Kelly Sheehan

Sanya, a Chinese city boasting several well-known beach resorts and host to the Miss World contest, will soon have a “green” luxury community.

In a partnership with Tiafeng, a China-based developer, Kevin Kennon Architect PC (KKA) has announced his role as design architect of a luxury, mixed-use development in Sanya, a town located on Hainan, the second largest island in China.

“China is at the forefront of a second wave of architecture,” says Kennon, who operates out of New York. “Unlike existing conspicuous buildings that are in stark contrast to the surrounding land, my main objective was to create structural forms that emphasize the natural environment and maximize its beauty while providing a unique experience for the occupants and community alike.” [Full Text]
