‘I Was Scared to Death’ – Jimmy Lai interview

Newsweek interviews Jimmy Lai of Hong Kong’s Next Media empire. When asked how things have gone for press freedom in Hong Kong since the 1997 handover, Lai responds:

They think that if they lean the Chinese government’s way they will get [financial] benefits, or that by getting close to power they will become the voice of China.
