‘I Was Scared to Death’ – Jimmy Lai interview

Newsweek interviews of Hong Kong’s Next Media empire. When asked how things have gone for press freedom in Hong Kong since the 1997 handover, Lai responds:

They think that if they lean the Chinese government’s way they will get [financial] benefits, or that by getting close to power they will become the voice of China.
