Indian Leader, In China, Is Upbeat – Jim Yardley

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India described Tuesday an ascendant Asia in which India and China had a special opportunity to overcome historic hostilities, promote regional development and collaborate on concerns about energy, food security and water supplies.

“Our systems are different, but people in both countries are united in their aspirations for a better future,” Mr. Singh said during a morning speech at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Mr. Singh met with President Hu Jintao of China later on Tuesday before ending his three-day visit to Beijing. [Full Text]
