Rudd to Pressure China on Climate, Rights

From NEWS.com.au:

PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd will get a chance today to act on his pledge to speak frankly with Beijing about problems such as human rights and climate change when he meets Premier Wen Jiabao.

The premier, who will host Mr Rudd at the Great Hall of the People, will be the first Chinese leader to meet the Australian prime minister since his comments on human rights in Tibet sparked a strong response from officials in Beijing.

Just hours after arriving in the Chinese capital, Mr Rudd delivered a blunt message that there were “significant” human rights problems in Tibet which needed to be addressed through dialogue not silence.
