The Economist is holding a debate over the proposition: “It was a mistake to award the Olympics to Beijing.” The pro side is represented by Gordon G. Chang, author of The Coming Collapse of China, while Charles W. Freeman III, Freeman Chair in China Studies at CSIS, takes the opposing view. The public is free to vote on the proposition, and as of this writing, 33% voted for it, with 66% against. The web page also highlights “featured participants” offering their views on the question.
