Taiwan Says China To Purchase 2.2 Bln Dlrs Goods

Chinese companies are set to place more than 2.2 billion US dollars of orders in Taiwan this year to help boost the island’s sagging economy, officials said Friday.

“We received orders totalling 827 million dollars by the end of July while another 1.4 billion are expected by year-end,” said Wang Chih-kang, chairman of Taiwan External Trade Development Council.

The bulk of the orders was electronic products such as computers and television screens, Wang said.
