A year after Dongzhou shooting last winter, 300-400 local villager walked out to an altar to remember the event in front of portraits of three killed victims during the incident.

The mourning was uninterrupted, Radio Free Asia learned from the villagers. But the atmosphere was still intense, as a large number of police were stationed inside a local postal service building and police station on standby.

A phone call to a local villager who was shot at the breast and back last year didn’t produce any information as he said his phone was tapped and wouldn’t speak about anything.

Other villagers complained that government policies in response to the incident became empty words, without any compensations. And local government agencies have been passing the buck when villagers made the petitioning trips. [Full Text in Chinese]
