Chen says Taiwan provided China sub info to Japan, U.S.

Chen Shui-bian acknowledged that Taiwan had provided intelligence information to Japan and the US about a Chinese nuclear submarine which was found inside Japanese waters last week. It’s not clear what specific information Taiwan provided, but Chen told an official at Japan’s embassy on Taiwan: “‘It’s our pleasure to contribute firsthand information to Japan and the United States, which was then confirmed… Japan, the United States and Taiwan have felt the same way about threats from China. In that we share common interests.” The full Kyodo news report is here.

Meanwhile, Japan is considering reducing development aid to China, according to this report in the Washington Times.
