U.S. entertainment company Warner Brothers Entertainment Inc. agreed Monday with a local partner to build multiplex cinemas in cities across China, the government said.
Details on the deal with Shenzhen International Trust and Investment Co. Ltd. were not released, but the official Xinhua News Agency said Warner would have a 51 percent share in the joint venture.
The first five cinemas will be in Shenzhen, Chongqing, Nanchang, Changsha and Zhengzhou, Xinhua said, but did not give the total number of theaters the partners plan to build.
