As the 60-kilometer-long pollution slick on the Yellow River is moving further downstream, the government of east China’s Shandong Province lifted warning early Monday at two monitoring points bordering Shandong and Henan provinces.
The water quality at Xiezhai and Liuzhuang points met safety standards at 2:00 a.m. Monday. The density of diesel oil has dropped to no more than 0.05 mg per liter, which means the pollution slick had left the area bordering Henan and Shandong provinces and moved downstream.
An emergency inspection team sent by the provincial environment protection bureau has stepped up monitoring at Sunkou, a downstream
monitoring station in the city of Jining, said a spokesman with Shandong provincial government.
