China strives to purify Internet content (Xinhua)

A report today by Xinhua has outlined a series of measures aimed at controlling “unhealthy” Internet content in China. The Ministry of Information Industry recently released a circular calling for strengthened control over bulletin boards and chat rooms and encouraging the development of security technology that, “shields the youngsters from unhealthy information on the Internet.” The report does not define what the government means by “unhealthy information”.
