From Bloomberg: “China President Hu Jintao met Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian’s representative at an economic summit of Pacific Rim nations in Santiago, the highest level talks between the two sides in 12 years.
The brief conversation between Hu and Yuan T. Lee, president of Academia Sinica, Taiwan’s top state research institute, was a “good thing,” China foreign ministry spokesman Kong Quan told reporters. ”
