Chinese activists burn Lee’s picture

Via China National News, from Kyoto News: “About 50 people demonstrated Thursday outside the Japanese Embassy in Beijing against a visit to Japan by former Taiwan President Lee Teng-hui, burning Lee’s picture and waving Chinese flags and banners with slogans.”

Update on Jan.1, 2005, from Japan Today: “Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said Saturday he will not visit the war-linked Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo during this year’s New Year period. On New Year’s Day in 2004, he visited the shrine, which enshrines convicted war criminals along with Japan’s war dead.”
