Taiwan, China Agree to Lift Flight Ban (washingtonpost.com)

From The Washingtonpost: “Taiwan and China agreed Saturday to temporarily lift Taiwan’s five-decade ban on direct flights between the two rivals – a deal that could reduce tension in one of Asia’s most dangerous flash points.

The agreement – the biggest breakthrough between Taiwan and China in years – will let passengers travel during next month’s New Year holiday without stopping at a third point, usually Hong Kong, as currently required.”
