Clinton to Meet Taiwan President During Visit

Former U.S. president Bill Clinton will meet Taiwan President on Sunday during a whirlwind visit to the island that China regards as a renegade province, but China was restrained in its reaction.

China believes Taiwan must be reunited by force if necessary and objects to any participation by the island in international affairs, including visits by leaders.

Clinton arrives in on Sunday at the invitation of the Taiwan government and will deliver a speech on and security, said foreign ministry spokesman Michel Lu.
