From The International Herald Tribune:
H.D.S. Greenway from The Boston Globe writes that China is emerging as a world economic and military power. It now has a permanent seat on the Security Council and should no longer be “coddled” but treated as a serious rival. After Donald Rumsfeld’s recent comment that China should “enter the civilized world,” connotating its backwardness, Greenway warns that the U.S. must treat China with respect to keep good relations.
