New medical reforms cannot easily shake monopolistic position of interest groups – Qu Liqiu

From China Business Times, translated by Sinofile:

Nov. 12, an expert at the Ministry of Health discloses a national medical reform will be launched at the beginning of next year. The basic medical system is supposed to cover 90% of all Chinese people. Rural areas will be a priority for the implementation of the reform. Tang Jun, secretary general of Social Policy Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said in an interview that the biggest obstacle to the use of the medical reform will be parties that are benefiting from the old medical system, including some pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and governmental officials.
