Shanghai says no new bird flu case since first death – Ji Ming

From Xinhua News Agency (in Chinese), translated by CDT (link):

Spokesperson Jiao Yang of Shanghai Municipal Government said during a regular briefing on March 29 that there is no new discovered human infection of H5N1 strain of bird flu, after a death on March 21 in the city who was later determined and reported as a human case of the bird flu.

The spokesperson admitted that monitoring and containing the virus has a high degree of difficulty, due to Shanghai’s large and densely concentrated population and mobility of the people. But he said the city has stepped up measures to rein in the spread of the virus, including pasteurization and prohibiting trade of birds.
