Fewer people in Beijing and Shanghai are willing to live a “double income no kid”(DINK‰∏ÅÂÖã) lifestyle after marriage, 3 percentage points less than three years ago, and the reasons couples’ are having children has also changed, Beijing Morning Post reported today.

Many couples decided to have a child to continue their ancestral line or to obey their parent’s traditional wishes. Only 17.8 percent of couples wanted to have a child to bring enjoyment and fulfillment into their lives in 2002.
