Should the “3-15” Certification Be Cancelled? – Beijing Review

The China Consumers’ Association (CCA) confirmed in late July that it has ended its “3-15” certification program for consumer-friendly products, and companies that had been certified will have to stop using the designation after their agreement with the CCA expires.

Following a scandal about a flooring wood company, the CCA cancelled the “3-15” certification, which prompted much discussion. China Central Television conducted a survey of over 2,000 participants, among whom 83 percent supported the cancellation, believing that it showed the CCA’s awareness of its mistake, while 13 percent opposed the decision, saying the CCA is still a trustworthy organization.
