Chen Again Says No to Chinese Students – The China Post

President Chen Shui-bian yesterday reiterated that his administration will not recognize Chinese educational diplomas or allow Taiwan universities to enroll students from China. Chen said during the remainder of his presidential term, he will not change the policy of not accrediting diplomas issued by China, or of banning Chinese students from studying in Taiwan universities.

He asked the general public not to be so naive as to believe that it is only a matter of educational exchange. “Once the door is widely open to Chinese diplomas and Chinese students, the number of Chinese students studying in Taiwan will soar. It will seriously affect the opportunities of Taiwan students and professors,” said Chen. [Full Text]
