A man who burned a school’s Chinese flag after a fight with students there has been jailed for six months for “insulting the national flag,” a news report said Sunday.
The man, identified only by his surname Zhao, got into a fight with two students at a school in Datong County in the western province of Qinghai on April 5, according to the Xinhua News Agency. Zhao chased the students into their dormitory but was driven out by teachers, Xinhua said. “Bearing a grudge against the teachers,” it said, he destroyed objects in the teachers’ room, then went to the school yard, lowered the Chinese flag there and set fire to it. It was not clear what connection, if any, Zhao had to the school. [Full Text]
