Nearly Half China’s Migrant Workers Not Unionised: Official

China said Friday nearly half of its migrant workers remained unorganised, pledging that it would step up efforts to accommodate as many as possible.

Currently around 62 million migrant workers have joined labour unions, officials at the state-controlled All-China Federation of Trade Unions, or ACFTU, told reporters at a briefing.

According to the ACFTU, this accounts for 51.6 percent of the total number of migrant workers in China.
