Terrorism Suspect Confesses, Xinhua Says

The Chinese government has claimed that a suspect in this month’s reported attempt to down a flight from Xinjiang has confessed. From Xinhua:

The Ministry of Public Security issued a statement Thursday saying a 19-year-old female, Uygur ethnic, has confessed to her foiled terrorist attempt on the passenger plane, and the suspect, Guzalinur Turdi, and others involved in the case were apprehended by police.

“On March 7, Turdi boarded the plane with a camouflaged destructive device after deceiving airport security personnel. She went ahead with her terrorist sabotage activity but was foiled. She fully admitted her crime,” the statement said.
