Visiting Zeng Jinyan: The Movie

Time Magazine reporters Austin Ramzy and Simon Elegant tried to visit Zeng Jinyan, blogger and wife of imprisoned activist Hu Jia, who is herself under house arrest in Beijing with their three-month-old daughter. Ramzy and Elegant shot a video of their interaction with security guards at Zeng’s apartment building, who told them they couldn’t enter because it was a crime scene. Watch the video here. Elegant writes:

Hu Jia, the activist about whom we have written often, stood trial in Beijing’s Intermediate Court No. 1 last week on subversion charges. His conviction and sentence (a not guilty judgment is about as likely as Steven Spielberg getting an engraved invitation to the Olympics Opening Ceremony) is expected any time now. About a week earlier, my colleague Austin Ramzy and I tried to visit his wife, Zeng Jinyan, who is under house arrest.
