China’s Hu Expects “Warm Spring” Summit With Japan

From Reuters:

Chinese President Hu Jintao voiced optimism on Sunday that his visit to Japan this week would herald a “warm spring” in relations between Asia’s two biggest powers, which have long been dogged by disputes and tensions over history.

Kyodo news agency also quoted Hu as telling Japanese reporters in Beijing that he was confident a solution could be reached to the two countries’ quarrel over gas exploration rights in the East China Sea.

“I am confident that through joint efforts by both sides, this visit will be able to achieve the expected results,” he said.
