Hon Hai Group Says Worker in China Found Dead After Fall

A worker for Hon Hai manufacturing has fallen to his death, just days after another worker killed herself, becoming the sixth suicide among Hon Hai workers this year. From Bloomberg:

The employee, identified only as Liang, fell from the top of the building at about 10:50 p.m. local time May 14, the Taipei-based company, also known as Foxconn Technology Group, said in an e-mailed statement yesterday. Liang, who was later pronounced dead at LongHua People Hospital, was born in 1989 and joined Foxconn as a line operator in November, according to the statement.

The death is the fourth the company has reported this year. A worker identified as Liu died after a fall from a building at one of the firm’s Chinese sites on March 30. Another, surnamed Ma, was found dead Jan. 23 near a company dormitory in Shenzhen.

Six Hon Hai employees have committed suicide this year, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on May 12, after the company said a 24-year-old assembly line worker identified as Zhu died after jumping from her apartment building in Shenzhen.
