China has announced a crackdown on consumer piracy, a day before a high-level US trade mission arrives in Beijing.
Henry Paulson, the US treasury secretary, is due to begin talks in the Chinese capital on Thursday aimed at tackling some of the main areas of tension in one of the world’s most important trading relationships.
According to an official statement, the crackdown “will hunt out producers of pirated movies, books and software and break their distribution chains”.
