The following censorship instructions, issued to the media by government authorities, have been leaked and distributed online. The name of the issuing body has been omitted to protect the source.
Search out and delete the Beijing News article “Female State Enterprise Leader Accepted Bribes of Nearly 1.9 Million, Receives Three Year Suspended Sentence.” (January 2, 2018) [Chinese]
The Beijing News Article ordered for deletion has been archived by CDT Chinese editors. The news article describes the sentence handed to a female surnamed Wang by the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court for allegedly accepting nearly 1.9 million yuan in bribes. According to the report, the unidentified Ms. Wang was promoted by a lover to deputy director of the state-owned Central Huijin Investment Co. Wang pled guilty to the bribery charges, and received a three-year suspended sentence and a 200,000 yuan fine.
Since directives are sometimes communicated orally to journalists and editors, who then leak them online, the wording published here may not be exact. Some instructions are issued by local authorities or to specific sectors, and may not apply universally across China. The date given may indicate when the directive was leaked, rather than when it was issued. CDT does its utmost to verify dates and wording, but also takes precautions to protect the source.
