With a dismal performance and many fouls during the Olympics, the world now knows that China’s men’s soccer team is beyond repair. And another scandal recently surfaced to further reinforce that argument. A commentary translated by CDT from Oriental Morning Post via Sina.com:
Yesterday, many media outlets put out a belated insider “scoop”: During a meeting about China’s soccer team performance during the Olympic Games on Aug. 14 in Qinghuangdao, the deputy chief of China’s soccer association Nan Yong blew up, “Some of you even sneaked out of the team’s hotel during the Games and checked into another hotel, thinking that nobody knows and you are smart. Now I tell you, you are pretending to be smart. What you are doing, I know everything. You checked in at 9:50 and checked out at 10:20, is this normal behavior?”
But who was he talking about? Those who were present at the meeting knew all about it, but we outsiders knew nothing. Why not just tell everything? I cannot understand, up to this point, why the soccer association didn’t come up with any punishment, and why it didn’t tell us his name. That’s evidence that the association doesn’t have the audacity and resolve to seriously beat up the team and punish those who violate discipline.
The reason why Chinese fans didn’t see any team spirit on the ground is probably exactly this. Although we don’t know what this gentleman did during this half hour, but something is pretty clear. We cannot jump to a conclusion that it was because of that night that he had “soft legs” the other day, but we are sure that he is no different than a womanizer. It’s no surprise that his team, with people like him, lost the match.
Also, this is strong evidence that China’s soccer management is slack in its job with team member(s) making a quick hotel trip. During the Euro cup matches, various leagues ordered players not to meet with their wives, and they enforced the ban, while China’s soccer association couldn’t even prevent their players to have some quick sex out of the hotel. Who can have confidence in such a team?
