A new hydropower plant started generating electricity in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region on Friday.
The Xoka Hydropower Station, in Gongbo’gyamda County in east Tibet’s Nyingchi Prefecture, has four generating units each with a capacity of 10,000 kw, said Wang Lidong, director of the station’s construction headquarters under the Tibet Power Co. Ltd.
The station can generate 182 million kwh of electricity a year, Wang said.
Another hydroelectric power plant that is under construction is the Longtan hydropower station. From People’s Daily:
The Longtan hydropower station, China’s third-largest, will be fully operating before the end of this year, the proprietor said on Tuesday.
The seven sets of generators, with a capacity of 700,000 kw each, will all be put into operation by the end of the year, said Dai Bo, general manager of the Longtan Hydropower Development Company.
Five generators have begun operation and two are still being installed.
