Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi cancelled a meeting on Monday with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi that had been billed as a way to resolve bilateral tension and warned Tokyo it must work to turn around ties.
Wu, a veteran negotiator, cut short her visit to Japan by one day, keeping appointments with business leaders but saying unspecified pressing duties would keep her from meeting Koizumi, Japanese officials said.
