From USA Today:

Imagine that we inhabit a country that, like China, is home to 1.3 billion people, most of them poor. Imagine that we lag far behind rich countries in technological innovation and that our entertainment and publishing industries pale when compared with the slick fare from America. Suppose, however, that we could usurp patented, copyrighted and trademarked products that can make our country healthier, smarter, richer, fiercely competitive and happily entertained.

Imagine now that the countries ” such as the United States ” from which we “borrow” intellectual property complain bitterly and publicly, but in practice they act as our partners in the theft.
