Taiwanese officials have claimed that hackers from mainland China have broken into the computer systems of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party and stolen confidential information, including the personal itinerary of President Chen Shui-bian and information on visits to the US by high-ranking DPP officials.
A Taiwanese cabinet official is quoted as saying: “The incident has sent jitters through the Ministry of National Defense, which deems a systematic information attack launched by China as military warfare.”
