Free marriage counseling is now available at the divorce registry at the Civil Affairs Bureau in Putuo District of Shanghai. Counseling is offered before couples sign divorce papers to give couples a chance to reconsider and see if they can resolve their differences. Counseling runs during business hours on Tuesday and Friday, the bureau’s official dates for divorce registries. An average of 75 divorces were registered across the city per day last year.
