Netizens Hold NGOs Accountable in China
From CSR Asia:
Chinese netizens have been highly vocal in the last few months. They were instrumental in organising a boycott and protests against Carrefour in April. More recently, they ranked companies by the size of their donations to earthquake relief efforts and put pressure on those perceived to have donated less than possible.
During the last week, netizens have turned their attention to NGOs. With billions of dollars now donated to relief efforts in Sichuan, netizens are now asking the kinds of questions that are rarely posed by the public in China. The main one is whether NGOs are accountable for the money they receive. In general, people want to know what percentage of donations NGOs retain for management fees; i.e., people want transparency.
The NGO receiving the bulk of criticism, however, is the Red Cross Society of China (China Red Cross), which has been heavily criticised online and accused of being at best non-transparent and at worst corrupt.

Of course The China Red Cross is corrupt. Wh ywould that organization be any differnt than the rest of China?
Corruption is the bread of business life in China and it won’t change in the near future. Why? It is the CCP system - how they are set up and how then manage/don’t manage.
