Satire: The Sanlu Incident Is Another Poisoned Arrow Targeting Our National Industry From the Imperialist Reactionaries!
Among waves of angry critiques and satirical jokes about the Sanlu contaminated milk powder incident by Chinese netizens, this particular post stands out since it is a parody of those arguments commonly made by the Chinese government and nationalistic “angry youth,” translated by CDT:
The Sanlu Incident is another poisoned arrow targeting our national industry from the imperialist reactionaries!
The case of the “kidney stone babies” is again an incident provoked by international anti-Chinese interests. Considering the fact that other countries have had food safety problems, why can’t China also have the problem? Why only condemn China?
Would untainted milk powder solve the problem of infant health? For those adults who have never had milk powder, isn’t the infection rate of kidney stones still pretty high? So we can say the Western untainted milk powder system does not solve the kidney stone problem anyway.
Don’t forget the fact that the milk powder industry has developed for hundreds of years in other countries but for only a few decades in China. Chinese-made milk powder has made progress in recent years. Don’t expect to achieve perfection in one step. Untainted production systems can only be achieved gradually. Only a gradual process can serve China’s unique characteristics.
Boycotting or confronting Sanlu will only complicate the problem. We should take the approach of dialogue, taking time to communicate while drinking Sanlu milk powder. Only stability can ensure the development of the milk powder production. If we bankrupt Sanlu, China’s milk powder market will go into chaos, and Western milk powder will have a chance to take over China’s market.
As we can see from the history of the development of other countries’ milk powder industries, without exception there has got to be a gradual purification process to decontaminate tainted milk powder. It is the conspiracy of the west to indoctrinate Chinese to drink untainted milk powder form youth in order to destroy China’s milk powder industries. China’s milk powder industries are still very feeble, and the decontamination should still take a long time. If we adopt Western standards, every year, even the recall of 7000 tons of tainted milk powder won’t suffice; can the Chinese milk powder industry still have a chance to grow strong?
Chinese should have a long-term perspective and first drink tainted milk powder for another few decades sacrificing one or two generations; after Sanlu later promptly becomes strong so that it can compete with western production, then we can start to produce infants untainted milk powder step by step, given the assumption that there still remain some infants at that time.
Oriental and western countries have different situations, and people’s qualities are different as well. China must not drink western milk powder unconditionally. Western countries have small populations, so there will be enough milk powder for them even if it is not tainted. However, China has such a huge population; if we don’t contaminate milk powder but rather totally westernize the purification process, Chinese won’t have enough milk to drink even if we are able to milk all the bulls around the world.
Although Sanlu’s milk power is tainted, it solves the food problem of hundreds of thousands of babies in China. Who else in history could achieve this?
Finally as I appeal, as anti-Chinese interests boycott Chinese Sanlu milk powder, the victims will only be our vast number of babies. All Chinese patriots should hold together, firm up our position, and drink Sanlu milk powder all together.

Those western imperialists! First they use Dalai Lama to make us weak, then they shoot the Sanlu poisoned arrow at us! We will not be fooled! Drink Sanlu milk!
Well, what goes around comes around…
It was easy for Chinese bloggers to firmly support the CCP in its unrelenting suppression of the Tibetans’ plight for self-determination as it did not affect their own lives. They will find it harder with regard to the milk scandal.
The message starts hitting closer to home…

Are you people crazy!! Why on earth would you continue to drink tainted milk which could kill you? Your children are your legacy and those that survive will look back to you and scratch their heads. Oh, that’s if you are able to have anymore children. If not okayed by your government to have more children, YOU may not be able to procreate anymore. I hate to say it but China is not alone in this assult by companies thinking they can get away with harming the public. It’s happening everywhere. If we as consumers don’t take a stand and stop companies and governments who reclusely endanger us, who will? The only way to do this is to be vigulant in what they put out into the market for us to consume.
Is it just me or has there been a rash of comments on old product-safety posts that are obviously made by people who aren’t China-watchers and miss the point entirely?
