Chinese netizens talking hearts on Internet

From Xinhua News Agency. Some 70 percent of Chinese Internet users like chatting on the net with leisure-time hobbies ranking as the No. 1 topic, a recent survey on Chinese cultural websites reveals.

Personal affairs, work status, political and academic issues came after as the most popular topics for the netizens, according to a survey of 3,040 netizens conducted by the Organizing Committee of the Internet Civilization Project (OCICP) in 10 big cities across the country, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

According to the report, some learned scholars and high-level government officials have joined the new wave of online chatting which used to be dominiated by the youths.
