Korea, China, Japan Unveil Operating System & Cell Phone Collaboration

In a pair of related announcements, China, Japan and South Korea have announced that they will collaborate on developing their own open-source alternatives to Microsoft’s Windows operating system, and on a 4G cell phone standard “expected to enable throughput of 100 megabits per second–equivalent to the speed of fiber-optic communications…to allow users to watch crystal-clear television images on their displays even on fast-moving trains.”
