Blogger’s comment on censorship

After blogging the news “Chinese government creates web vigilante site,” I have made a comment about this on Many2Many site, where I am currently a guest blogger. Continuing this discussion, Adam Morris of Brainysmurf made a good analysis on this topic, much clearer than what I had said.

Adam wrote: “a website that serves the purpose of letting masses of people rat on each other, in a blatant attempt to seek out illegal material, will most certainly sink into most people’s consciousness. It’s no longer about government policy but about your friends and your foes, and it’s out there in the open that everyone knows about. They don’t even provide any guidelines, and includes almost anything under the sun like “superstition” and anything “contrary to social morality.” I wonder if they advertise that website. Watch what you write and what pictures you post, or the guy at work will rat on you!
