1,000 new condom machines for Beijing

AFP reported this today. “City officials plan to install 1,000 condom-vending machines in a bid to curb the spread of Aids, state media reported yesterday.

Machines will be put in hotels and bars and on university campuses to sell ‘quality-guaranteed’ products at one yuan (2 Singapore cents) apiece, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

In a rare move, the vending machines will also be installed at construction sites in a bid to reach out to the millions of migrant workers who crowd this capital city. ”
