Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian, under pressure to reconcile with rival China, said on Sunday he has asked the leader of a smaller opposition party to relay a message to Beijing during a visit later this month.
His announcement comes after Chinese President Hu Jintao held groundbreaking talks with Lien Chan of Taiwan’s main opposition Nationalist Party, or Kuomintang (KMT), in a move seen to isolate the pro-independence Taiwan president.
