Natural gas leakage being plugged, 15,000 evacuated in Chongqing – Yang Weicheng

From Xinhua News Agency (in Chinese), translated by CDT (link):

On March 25, a natural gas leakage struck an oil field in Kaixian County, Chongqing, where a gas gush in late 2004 killed over 200 in the villages. The leaking gas was ignited and plans are being tested to try to plug the leakage. Two earlier plans have failed, a third is being worked on, with dozens of experts and senior officials called in and around 800 working on or for the plugging effort.

More than 15,000 people were evaculated from the accident site.
