China Three Gorges Project Corporation, the builder of the Three Gorges dam, is in talks with Congo about participating in the Grand Inga project, a plan to dam Congo River 225 km downstream of capital Kinshasa.
The project, with a capacity of 40,000 megawatt of power, will be twice the generation capacity of the Three Gorges project and will be more than the whole Africa will need.
The Chinese comapny expects to create job opportunities for its hundreds of experienced senior engineers and expand China’s economic influence. But some are concerned that political instability and insufficient budget may bring troubles to the project. [Full Text in Chinese]
